Gale's First Chai in India
Good Morning everyone,
Hope you are all having a fantatsic Thursday morning.
I received an email this morning from Gale (one of the owners of Alchemy) Last week she made the journey over to India (the origin country of Chai Tea) she will be travelling around India for about 6 weeks and while she is gone will be sending regular updates that we will share with you all. Below is the email of her first Chai tea in India
My First Chai In India,
After dragging my bag through the dawn chaos of the New Delhi Train Station, I settled myself into my “air conditioned chair class” seat and watched “the show” through the relative safety of my window. From the beautiful sari-ed women to the dirty, crippled beggars and purple robed, white bearded holy men, I’m yet to fully grasp my place amongst them here – strange large white woman looking slightly bemused??
A cup of tea and a biscuit being included in the price of my ticket ($12 for a 4 ½ hour train trip), I watched with interest as the little jacketed Indian mad his way down the aisle passing out trays to each passenger. What I received was a little paper envelope stamped “tea kit”. Inside I found a tea bag, a sachet of sugar, a sachet of powdered non-dairy creamer and a bag of spices. I was also supplied with a paper cup, a fork (?) and a grubby plastic thermos with a broken spout. So I sat in my little seat watching India pass by and had my very own little chai ritual.
It wasn’t a great cup of Chai (unlike Alchemy Chai) – far from it in fact – but it was, without a doubt, my FIRST Chai in India!!
Keep and eye out on the blog and facebook ( www.facebook.com/AlchemyCordialCompany ) for more updates
Have a great day
